General Update
Well, haven't I been a bit absent lately! We've moved house and have yet have no internet access, so my presence on the wibblywobbyway has been pretty limited all round. However, in my absence, I have acquired a shiny new camera which is rather wonderful and have found something that I would really quite like to try my hand at.
Firstly, my camera is a bridge camera, in the form of the
Panasonic Lumix FZ50. As far as I can tell, it's as good as an SLR with the added bonuses of being cheaper and a bit easier to learn on. It's served me well so far in the short time I've had it and hopefully I'll be improving my skills a bit better now.
Second is an idea that I've had milling around for a while. I've never really thought of photography as a career, more of a hobby, but with judgement day drawing closer and me going to University, talks have come up over what I want to do in the future. Now, doing maths leaves me with very many or very few options, depending on how you look at it. I can go into a multitude of careers involving maths, I can go into any office and hold a good case for employment or I could teach. I like the idea of teaching at the moment and that's what I'm heading for right now. However, whilst we were sat in the park the other day, I spotted a family out with their children and I had a real urge to start snapping. Now, taking pictures of kids probably isn't wise in this day and age but it sparked something. Photographers like
Venture specialise in bringing family photos away from the classical posed shot and have some fun and take more characteristic shots. The ones that we had done are nice but they still look a bit posed and show a pretty forced view of our characters. My idea was, if you spent a day with a family in the park/somewhere they know or feel comfortable in, you'd get more characteristic shots that would make for better photos in the end of the day. It's something to think about anyway as I get older and start working properly
